Bal Harbour

Bal Harbour

At the northern end of Miami Beach is the Village of Bal Harbour. The area is best known for the chic Bal Harbour Shops where you’ll find such international icons of fashion like Chanel, Neiman Marcus, Dolce & Gabbana, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, its discerning residents think of it more as a luxurious oceanfront paradise. Indeed they have reason to do so.

Despite an array of superb restaurants {I can heartily recommend Carpaccio and La Goulue} and its considerable sophistication and glamour, somehow Bal Harbour has the singular sense of style to remain understated and low key. {Honestly, I don’t quite understand how that is.}

Having said that, the area has one thing in common with South Beach: Its real estate prices have more than held their own, even through these trying times. Although there are a few wide estate homes on the Bay and in the Village of Bal Harbour, the majority of homebuyers and renters are interested in the spectacular condominiums such as The Bellini, St. Regis, and One Bal Harbour, overlooking the soft sand beaches and the sparkling waters of the Atlantic.

Bal Harbour has long been a discreet retreat for business and political tycoons. Hard to believe in this age of partisanship, but one of the lasting images of this oasis of luxury is a photo of former Republican Senator Robert Dole relaxing with the Democrat, Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill, at the pool. {Yes, they lived in the same building!}

For those with a keen sense of international style and luxury, Bal Harbour is sure to please.
